The Barr Foundation is pleased to share the news (and add our congratulations!) that our co-founders and trustees, Barbara and Amos Hostetter, have been named among the 2025 recipients of the prestigious Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.

Awarded on behalf of the international family of Carnegie institutions founded by Andrew Carnegie, The Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy seeks to honors philanthropists who “personify the ideals of Carnegie’s vision, seeking through their giving to make the world a better place for all…They are catalysts for good who are inspirations to others. They are models for the next generation of philanthropists.”
Previous winners include Michael Bloomberg, the Gates family, Charles F. Feeney, the Hewlett family, Betty and Gorden Moore, the Packard family, and the Rockefeller family.
Together with the Hostetters, the 2025 honorees are Carol Colburn Grigor CBE and Joseph and Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer. The medal ceremony will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 7, 2025.
